FlatKey

Keyhole FlatKey

The all-new Keyhole FlatPack is a revolution in piano shells. The first piano shell that can break down to fit in a passenger car. Still large enough for most traveling entertainers at 34-inches long.

Unlike our other models, we are able to keep a small inventory of FlatKeys in stock. Skip the estimation process and go straight to purchasing using our secure online store. This is a great option if you have a straightforward order and want it quick.

Features

The FlatKey is a flat-pack design that goes together like a puzzle - collapsable from over 10-inches down to 2.5-inches. Engineered to go together without any fuss. The entire body goes together with only 8 screws. Set up with time to spare.

The beautiful, painted, solid hardwood legs attach with two wing screws each and give sturdy support. The legs store in their own optional bag for transport.

Optional, custom cases are available to keep your piano shell looking new for years. One clamshell form-fitting case for the shell and one for the legs.

Customization is possible in so many ways that it's impossible to mention them all. Ask us about options such as personalized logos, custom colors, and even custom sizing for specialty gear.

"I am very happy with the FlatKey. Congratulations on a very cool design!"

Get Inspired

We had three goals when designing the FlatKey.

Goal #1 - Create a 'flat-pack' style piano that can ride in a passenger automobile.

Since portability has always been our first focus, it has always been a dream that we could design a piano shell to fit in a car. In the matching cases, the piano can fit into most standard passenger vehicles.

Goal #2 - Maintain the same quality, reliability and sturdiness that all Keyhole products are known for.

Using the same plywood we use on other pianos was causing excess weight so we switched to a lighter plywood. To get away with this we use the same joinery and techniques as our other models to provide enough rigidity to feel solid while performing.

Some inquiring minds have requested that some of the components hinge into place or that the legs fold up to reduce the amount of hardware and setup time. We have tried these modifications and learned that the articulation comes at a price: the piano simply wobbles too much. An assembled Keyhole FlatKey leaves no doubt that this piano is not meant to be a toy.

Goal #3 - Keep the price low enough for anyone to be able to afford.

This goal was the most difficult to meet. How do we incorporate all the standard features while keeping the price down? Well for one, the legs are painted instead of laminated. We also paint the edges instead of using edgebanding. Most of the labor can be done in batches. Thanks to so many advancements in our processes we were able to lower the price enough for anyone.
